Lily Birkhimer, Digital Projects Coordinator, manages content and outreach for Ohio Memory, handles reproduction requests and permissions for digital materials, and coordinates short and long-term digitization projects. Duryea Kemp, Scanning and Microfilm Technician, joined the organization to work on our original newspaper microfilming project. Kristen Newby, Metadata Coordinator, creates and updates metadata for items in Ohio Memory and manages Ohio History Central. She also coordinates the NEH-funded grant project Little Stories of the Great War: Ohioans in World War I. Jillian Ramage, Manager, Digital Services Department, oversees Ohio Memory, the Ohio Digital Newspaper Program, Oral History, Multimedia Production and Distance Learning. She also serves as a Community Engagement Center Representative for the Ohio Digital Network (DPLA). Jillian has a BA in Communications from The Ohio State University and an MLIS from Kent State University. Phil Sager, Digital Projects Developer, works on Ohio Memory and and a number of other digital projects within the Ohio History Connection. He has a BA in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MLS from UW-Madison, and a Specialist Degree in Digital Libraries from Indiana University. He has been involved in numerous initiatives, including an online interactive tutorial for a virtual university, project development for Ohio Memory, the Ohio Digital Newspaper Program and general database development for the Ohio History Connection. Jenni Salamon, Unit Manager, Digitization, manages Ohio Memory and the Ohio History Connection’s digitization and microfilming programs, including the Ohio Digital Newspaper Program. She also coordinates and provides outreach and training on digitization and related topics, with a particular focus on newspaper preservation, digitization and research. Jenni has a BA in English from Ohio University, an MLIS from Kent State University, and a Digital Archives Specialist Certificate from the Society of American Archivists. Kathy Hughes has been a Librarian Cataloger at the State Library of Ohio since October 1988, and is primarily involved with original cataloging, cataloging federal and state documents, archiving state electronic documents, loading files of bibliographic records, catalog maintenance, and contributing name authority records through the NACO program. She holds a BA in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Connecticut and a MLIS from Kent State University.
Shannon Kupfer has been employed by the State Library of Ohio since 2007 and oversees digitization projects as well as being the library’s go-to for rare books. She holds a BA in History from The Ohio State University and a MLIS from Kent State University.
Nicole Merriman is the Head of Research and Catalog Services at the State Library of Ohio. Nicole oversees the reference staff and the cataloging staff at the State Library. She has a BA from The Ohio State University and an MLS from Kent State University.
