Conestoga Fundraiser

Description: Sunday, April 14, 2013
4-7 p.m.
Clairmont Road, Upper Arlington

Guests at this year’s annual Conestoga fundraiser will travel back in time to the 19th century, escorted by two of Ohio’s earliest pioneers. Those attending will be treated to a spring afternoon of vintage food and toe-tapping music with Ohio legislator and judge Thomas Johnston and his wife, Elizabeth. Johnston served in the House of Representatives and the Senate as Ohio was just gaining its foothold as a state. He also carved out a prosperous farm and estate for future generations in the central Ohio countryside. The Johnston family home, now one of the oldest residences in Franklin County, is rich in history and architectural details of the 1800s.

Its current owners, Conestoga members Drs. Margaret and William Pease, will open the home on Clairmont Road in Upper Arlington for this special Conestoga event on Sunday, April 14, from 4–7 p.m. Complimentary shuttle service will be provided from a nearby parking lot. A silent auction will also be held.

Conestoga is a volunteer fund-raising support group for the Ohio Historical Society. Through this annual benefit and other activities throughout the year, Conestoga has provided more than $500,000 in support for the society since the community group was founded in 1986. This year’s fund-raising goal exceeds $19,000.
