| Description: |
In recent censuses, Anglo-Americans have claimed more German ancestors than any other European nativity. Because relatively few of these descendants have acquired proficiency in the German language, the research may seem daunting. This overview explains how a novice can research German origins without knowing much German. Techniques and tips for research in both US and German records will be presented in this class. You will find out ways to use US court records and online sources to trace your German ancestor in America. Also find out the right way to use the web to find your ancestor in Germany. Time will be set aside for class participants to ask specific questions about their research challenges. |
