Visit the Ohio History Center exhibit 1950s: Building the American Dream from Nov. 23, 2013–Jan. 5, 2014, and you'll find an operating model train display inspired by a real Lionel layout of the era, courtesy of Central Ohio Model Railroad Club. Based on a layout that Lionel published in 1949, called Pop's Layout, the nine-by-20-foot display features model trains running on a double-tracked oval connecting to a figure-eight and detailed with 1950s-style buildings and accessories.
